LRC: Learning Resource Center
The LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER (LRC) is an innovative and dynamic learning environment designed to promote education and growth for peoples of all ages. While the project was realized conceptually years ago, its long-awaited completion was finally heralded in September 2010. A renovated concrete building with a practical, yet spiffy, grass-thatched roof, the LRC stands as a monument to community involvement and resource management.
Inside the building, visitors find an office for meeting space, a modest, but ever growing library with books for adults, students, and children, tables, chairs, chalkboards and bright posters on the walls to encourage and stimulate learning. Fimpulu Christian Preschool, founded by Choshen Farm in 2007, hosts classes for approximately forty 3-7 year-olds each morning.
Afternoons at the LRC are a bustle of activity with school-age students coming for tutoring programs and to use various textbooks and resources. Late afternoon and early evening hours are reserved for adult educational programs such as household finance, English, Bemba literacy, and other trainings and seminars.
The LRC also hosts the Fellowship of Church Leaders program, meeting with and encouraging local Christian leadership as we expand our knowledge of the Scriptures and encourage one another in prayer. The LRC is ideally designed to welcome international and local visitors with a variety of skills and backgrounds who wish to come and share their expertise with the people of Fimpulu. We sincerely hope that the LRC will be consistently used for such cross-cultural partnership and exchange.

These are the first pictures I have seen with the roof completed. That’s awesome… When we left for Oregon there was a bit of a controversy over just who was going to provide materials and labor to complete the project.. Am so glad to see it in use.
